Con Dao Islands: Beaches, Nature and History

The Con Dao archipelago is located in the province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau in southern Vietnam. It is the largest of a series of 16 rocky islands and islets totaling 76 square kilometers.

This island is well-known for its gorgeous romantic beaches and natural beauty, as well as the famed prison system created and run by French colonists and American forces. The island is currently a popular worldwide tourist attraction, ranking fourth in Lonely Planet magazine's list of the top ten must-see destinations in Asia in 2016.

Con Dao's weather is reasonably cool and pleasant all year because it is isolated from the mainland, positioned in the Asian monsoon climate, and influenced by ocean climate. The Con Dao islands have two seasons: rainy and dry. The rainy season lasts from May to November, with the wettest months being August and September. During the dry season, which lasts from December to April, the yearly average temperature is 27°C.
